Cinder block love.

So, after the snow had sufficiently melted, RW and I were finally able to pick up some cinder blocks and throw together the modern, minimal (and cheap) bookcase of my dreams. Behold, in all its wooden concrete glory:

Of course, my shite camera does not do it proper justice but I swear that for $60 you ain't going to get anything half that nice anywhere else.

Aloft A-Go-Go.

This cruised into The Beer Store parking lot yesterday as I was escaping from work (before anyone gets smart, it's merely a convenient pick-up/drop-off spot ok? I don't have a drinking problem):

It took me a bit of digging to figure out what exactly I was looking at because I could only focus on half of the stuff on it (you can't see it all in the pics): W Hotel. Aloft. Shiny airsteam. Faux-woodie jeep. A case of over-branding maybe?

Apparently there's even a blog attached to it (though because it hasn't been updated since Feb, nothing is mentioned about visiting a Beer Store in the fine capital of our fine nation).

That is one seriously sweet ride. The hotel chain should consider letting people rent it. How much fun would it be to roadtrip in a tricked-out boutique airstream? Definite honeymoon potential.

I hope he's got me down for it in his will.

My brother has this framed print in his apartment over his fireplace:

He got found it in a shop in Victoria years ago and from the moment I first saw it I've been trying to find ways to steal it.

It's hard to tell from the pic by the bunny is sorta starring down into his own pants/boxers. I'm not sure why but the thought of a bunny checking his junk is very amusing to me. I probably need help.

So it turns out that the art is by German artist Michael Sowa who is also responsible for this Amelie favorite:

The absurdist nature of his stuff is great.

How perfect would these be in a kids room too? Not too sicky sweet but definitely adorable and, as a bonus, affordable so if they get hit with some projectile bodily fluids no one is going to cry.

Update: apparently I am just a complete perv. It seems the bunny is wearing a dress (at least according to the name of the image on Art.com) and not boxers. Of course, the gender of the rabbit is at least still in question so maybe I'm not totally off.

My blog hero.

The blog Door Sixteen is so inspiring to me right now:

Before

Middle

And, knowing how gorgeous the rest of this home is, I can't wait to see the after(s).

Seeing this has inspired me to go ahead and call the place that has the fence I want for an estimate. The nice thing about this company is that they can do some or all of the job for you, or just sell you the pre-made materials so you can save money and do it yourself.

This is the fence I'm liking best right now:

It may not be perfect but it will be a start. Then I can work on tearing out the "shipping pallet" deck and getting some green things growing back there.

It's not enough that they make beautiful furniture...

The owners of Gus Design Group also have a brilliant home:

I love the mix of raw and modern. I'd like to think they'd admire my cinder block bookcase.

Speaking of fundies.

Behold the site of my future commune:

In Smithers, BC: "37.29 acres on corner of Walcott Road & Hwy 16 east of Telkwa with 2-2 bedroom older homes, 1400 sf main home has 2 bedrooms on main & open room upstairs. 1100 sf 2nd home. 936 sf with bay doors and 6600 sf barn with power and water, numerous stalls, milk ing boxes and hayloft. Property in 2 levels, fenced, not hayed in recent years, good grazing. 2 ponds on property & Thompson Creek Mountain views."

And by "commune" I mean farm-based benevolent dictatorship.

Near death experience.

Query, what is it about Russel Hoban that attracts the fundies?

I mistyped my own blog into Google just now and about died of shock: http://www.bundlejoycosysweet.blogspot.com/ .

WTF?! Is this my alternate universe?
