Concrete floors with radiant heating are the type of thing I'd happily do just because it's somehow so decadent that the floors would be warm to walk on in bare feet in the middle of winter. It's a crazy added bonus that they're also an efficient way to heat a house and look gorgeous too.

I've been thinking of checked lino for the kitchen for a while now but I always assumed black and white would be best. Definitely rethinking that now:

I especially think the grey is a nice. Basically a softer version of the black but still neutral.

Dirty thoughts about white floors.

The more beautiful photos of white-washed hardwood floors I see, the more I'm tempted to paint over my hardwood. Thankfully, I know that it would be useless sacrilege because, to really pull off this look, you need wide old wood planks that look like they came from the deck of a ship.
