More cabin torture.

Since spending part of the weekend at a cabin on a beautiful lake in Quebec, I've been scouring real estate listings looking for affordable little places I can dream about owning someday. I'd also love to build my own cabin, something very similar to this gorgeous place on Orcas Island:

More pallet love.

Check out the shipping crate furniture in this great beach studio featured in Dwell (link to slide show). It's official, I'm going to have to do some scavenging and make myself some patio chairs.

Not what I think of when I hear "Mexico".

This is the beautiful cabin currently inhabited by the talented Geninne Zlatkis and her family. From the pictures it could be Vancouver Island, I was amazed to find out this is actually Mexico. So gorgeous and not at all in keeping with my sand-and-cacti images of that country.

Apparently she has two sons, I wonder if she'd consider adopting a 29 year old daughter? I'm potty-trained and do my own ironing, what more could you ask for?

Wee love.

I have a dream. A very little dream. I want a BIG chunk of land in the middle of nowhere. Preferably by a river or the ocean. Any ocean will do. There I will spend my days watching my vegetables grow and taking long walks in the company of a large herd of hounds. I promise you'll all be invited to come and visit and borrow a patch of dirt to set up your own little hut. I might even let you borrow a whippet or two when it gets cold in the evenings.
